What about SSP?
Southern Sudan Project (SSP) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The primary monetary sources for the organization comes from private & corporate donations and fundraising events. In addition, SSP graciously accepts donated items like computers, office equipment, building supplies, and anything else that supports the cause. Building a secondary school is a major task that requires diligent and integral assistance. Since attaining official 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, Southern Sudan Project has received over $4000 in monetary and non-monetary donations. Although we are most grateful, erection of a school is costly venture. It has been estimated that the final cost to build a secondary school in Aweil, Sudan will be between $10-12 million US dollars. Once construction begins, it should take nine months to one year for completion.
In order to meet the ultimate goal, Southern Sudan Project has marketed itself in a variety of ways. Mr. Deng has given several speeches about his life experience in Sudan and the journey to America. SSP has participated in numerous academic and community events sponsored by institutions like VA Commonwealth University, Temple University, Virginia Union University, Richmond Peace Education Center, The Conciliation Project, and WRIR 97.3 FM. It is our sincere desire to share the vision with as many as possible.
